GREAT NEWS FOR OUR D.C. LISTENERS

We have been privileged to serve the visually impaired residents of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia for over 36 years. After much lobbying by the Ear’s Staff and Board of Directors along with D.C. residents we are delighted that the service can now be restored. The District of Columbia has agreed to reinstate funding to the Metropolitan Washington Ear as of June 1, 2011. This means we can now begin the process of restoring services to D.C. residents. We have begun to assign new I.D. and security numbers for those who had been using the Dial-In service. We will notify each individual of the new numbers by phone and by mail. This process may take a few days.

We thank you for your patience during the months that you went without your service. We thank you most sincerely for your support in contacting D.C. Government Officials. You made a huge difference. We ask for your patience now as we work diligently to assign your numbers and get you back on the air.

The funding we have received through the D.C. Department of Disability Services extends from June 1, 2011 through September 30, 2011. We once again ask for your help as we try to secure a contract to provide services for the D.C. fiscal year beginning October 1, 2011 and beyond.

Please direct your calls, emails, faxes or letters to the following officials to encourage them to expedite the awarding of a contract so that your services will continue uninterrupted after September 30, 2011. Thank you very much.
